A Guide to Using SUNO

In the world of music creation, artificial intelligence has revolutionized how we compose, produce, and appreciate music. If you’re diving into AI-generated music and using apps like SUNO to craft your own beats, this guide is for you. 

One of the standout features is SUNO’s Explore page, where you can browse and select various music styles. I’ve compiled these styles and fed them into ChatGPT, creating a comprehensive reference table in my Notion Workspace (free access). This table allows me to quickly generate prompts by copying and pasting styles and adjusting parameters like beats per minute (BPM).

For instance, I can select styles like Psychedelic or Minimal Techno, combine them with instruments ranging from Middle Eastern percussion to Indian wind instruments, and specify BPMs to tailor the music’s vibe.

To create a track, I input my chosen style, adjust parameters if needed, and paste the prompt into SUNO’s creation page. With a limit of 120 characters, precision is key in defining the music’s style. I often use ChatGPT to structure these prompts further, ensuring clarity and creativity in each composition.

SUNO offers flexibility in crafting song structures, allowing me to specify intros, progressions, breakdowns, and hooks. This structured approach not only enhances the music’s flow but also guides SUNO in generating cohesive compositions.

After refining the prompt, I name the track, and SUNO creates the music based on my input. Each session, powered by 50 credits, allows for multiple creations, making it accessible even on the free plan. However, subscribing unlocks additional features and benefits, enriching the music creation experience.
